Shaved Ice for Summertime Snacks

Hot summer weather brings with it customers looking for frozen treats. Relief comes in many forms; from ice cream to frozen yogurts, many of the classics are a sure-fire hit to pleasing guests. One such frozen treat is shaved ice, and while it’s easy to make and versatile enough to create a wide variety of dessert products, the addition of an ice shaver is often overlooked. Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing! <<Tweet This!>>

If you don’t already have a flake ice machine, then an ice shaver is ideal for turning chunks of ice into finely-shaved slivers that have a lot of surface area and are easy to eat like any other frozen dessert. One of our preferred ice shaver equipment manufacturers is Hamilton Beach, and they’ve compiled a lengthy list of shaved ice recipes for your use! Here are just some of our favorites:

Caramel Sour Apple Icy-Tini

This recipe is great for a special behind-the-bar menu and can even translate well into the fall season.

  • Ice

  1. Place all ingredients except ice in bowl with paddle.

  2. Shave ice on SLUSHIE setting to desired consistency or until large serving ice line is reached.

  3. Serve immediately.

Vanilla Latte Slushie

And what better way to mix coffee and dessert than with a shaved ice treat! This recipe strays from the typical fruity ingredients for a more robust after-dinner treat.

  • Ice

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients except ice in bowl with paddle.
