Find the perfect coffee beans

This is one of the most overlooked tools in coffee making. See, having a great grinder will ensure that over-extraction or under-extraction will not happen.
And when it comes to extraction, the best percentage is from 18% up to 20%. Anything under that will make the coffee taste sour, and anything above it will make one overly bitter cup.
Avoid blade grinders as much as possible because they don’t grind beans evenly. Serious coffee enthusiast know that burr grinders are the way to go. The extraction is precise and the grounds come out even.

Use the right kind of water
Water is just as essential to the body as it is to coffee. Tap water is okay as long as there’s not much chlorine in it. Distilled water is definitely not because it will make your coffee flat. Spring water will work best.
The water temperature should be just right. For optimum extraction, the water temperature should be between 910C to 960C. Don’t forget to use the Golden Ratio – 6:1. Which means, 6 ounces of water should be used per 1 gram of coffee.
