Fried Favorites

Fried foods tend to top the list for fattier, less healthy menu items. While the health trend is still in full swing, the demand for fried foods typically picks up in the warmer months - and this year is no different. Fortunately, it’s easy to add fried foods to any menu with the addition of a quality fryer and by following a few of these tips.

Seafood Platters

We’ve all experienced the glory of a full-on fried seafood platter. Just about anything that swims in the sea can be fried to perfection. From clams and shrimp to fish and scallops, a fried seafood platter is a summer favorite. There are a few things to keep in mind to create the perfect seafood platter:

  • Don’t forget the sides! Hushpuppies and french fries are perfect fried additions that add to the flavor profile of any seafood platter.

  • Keep the oil separate. If you’re using a Commercial Deep Fryer for seafood platters, be sure to only fry seafood in the same batch of oil. Seafood tastes and odors can linger in old oil and taint other fried items, so change the oil completely before changing menu items. This takes a little extra planning but will improve customer satisfaction greatly.

Sweet Desserts

When we think of fried foods, we typically conjure images of lunch and dinner items. There are a ton of desserts that can utilize a Commercial Deep Fryer as well though! Consider a few of these ‘just desserts’ for your Commercial Deep Fryer:

  • Fried Donuts: With fried donuts, your restaurant can prepare donut batter onsite and fry them on an as-needed basis for a fresh-from-the-fryer taste!

  • Fried Icecream: Because of the quick heating of a Commercial Deep Fryer, you can prepare batches of fried icecream on an individual-serving basis. Try different coating ingredients to add extra layers of uniqueness to this already interesting dessert.

  • Beignets and Fritters: You can’t forget about these sweet desserts, especially if you have a European-style restaurant.

Don’t forget the filter!

Remember that your Commercial Deep Fryer is truly only as good as your filter. There is a multitude of benefits that come with investing in a filter for your Commercial Deep Fryer:

  • Improved Food Quality: As solids and wastes such as breading, batter, and proteins build up on your oil over time, any foods that you fry in the old oil will pick up the tastes and textures of these leftover bits. The older the unfiltered oil, the more likely the quality of your foods will diminish. When you run your oil through a filtration system, you effectively remove these solid waste products, clearing the way for a clean batch of oil for your fried foods! Nobody wants their fried meal peppered with old wastes from foods that came before. Your customers will thank you for filtering your oil.

  • Extend the Life of your Oil: The oil you use in your Commercial Deep Fryer can be reused a multitude of times, depending on what you’re frying and how often you fry foods. Getting the most out of your batches of oil will help to reduce the cost of purchasing new oil and thus help your bottom line. Commercial Deep Fryer filtration systems clear your oil of debris that have been left behind from foods that have been fried. If left unchecked, these bits and pieces can become cooked and ruin the quality of your oil. Unfiltered wastes eventually burn into carbon which then breaks down the oil, making it brown and quicker to smoke. Rather than replacing the oil, running it through a filter can extend the life!

  • Reduce Storage Needs: If you’re constantly having to replace old oil rather than simply filtering it, you’ll have to consume more storage space for your constant need for fresh oil. By investing in a filtration system, you free up storage space for other items - and we can all attest to the importance of using every inch of storage space wisely!
