Fried foods tend to top the list for fattier, less healthy menu items. While the health trend is still in full swing, the demand for fried foods typically picks up in the warmer months - and this year is no different. Fortunately, it’s easy to add fried foods to any menu with the addition of a quality fryer and by following a few of these tips.
We’ve all experienced the glory of a full-on fried seafood platter. Just about anything that swims in the sea can be fried to perfection. From clams and shrimp to fish and scallops, a fried seafood platter is a summer favorite. There are a few things to keep in mind to create the perfect seafood platter:
Don’t forget the sides! Hushpuppies and french fries are perfect fried additions that add to the flavor profile of any seafood platter.
Keep the oil separate. If you’re using a fryer for seafood platters, be sure to only fry seafood in the same batch of oil. Seafood tastes and odors can linger in old oil and taint other fried items, so change the oil completely before changing menu items. This takes a little extra planning but will improve customer satisfaction greatly.
When we think of fried foods, we typically conjure images of lunch and dinner items. There are a ton of desserts that can utilize a fryer as well though! Consider a few of these ‘just desserts’ for your fryer:
Fried Donuts: With fried donuts, your restaurant can prepare donut batter onsite and fry them on an as-needed basis for a fresh-from-the-fryer taste!
Fried Icecream: Because of the quick heating of a fryer, you can prepare batches of fried icecream on an individual-serving basis. Try different coating ingredients to add extra layers of uniqueness to this already interesting dessert.
