A steamer kettle is a piece of food service equipment that consolidates large-volume steam cooking tasks into a single footprint to maximize space and productivity. Steamer kettles consist of a steam cooker and a kettle powered by a gas or electricity-powered boiler stowed inside a cabinet base.
Steamers feature single or multiple cooking compartments that cook food contained in pans. Most units use convection, which means they are equipped with a fan that moves the steam and air throughout the cavity at normal pressures.
Steam cooking is popular in food service because it enables users to seal in all the nutrients and flavors of ingredients and minimize the use of oil. Steam cooking is also one of the quickest and most efficient modes of heat transfer, so you can expect superb cooking speeds on top of flavorful dishes.
A steam kettle is intended for boiling pasta or simmering sauces, soups, stews, and many more liquid food items in large volumes. These units have a steam jacket that surrounds the exterior of the pot to form a large contact area for heat, which results in quick and uniform cooking. There are tilting steam kettles that have a dedicated handle or crank used to safely and easily push the pot forward for transferring the cooked items into smaller containers.
Steamer kettles are available in different combinations to accommodate your specific needs. Most units come standard with a two-compartment steamer with six (6) to 10 pan steamers each. These units can be paired with one (1) or two (2) kettles.
