For enterprises that need to expand their refrigerated storage space but have limited indoor space, an outdoor walk-in cooler like the KODB8788-C 8' x 8' x 8'-7" H Kold Locker from Nor-Lake is an excellent option.

The 4” thick panels that make up this cooler are made from 26 gauge steel encasing foamed-in-place insulation to achieve an R-value of 25, Both sides of the 25 gauge steel feature an embossed stucco finish for corrosion resistance. The panels feature male and female rails to make aligning them easy during assembly while foamed-in-place cam locking fasteners make sure panels are secure. Panel gaskets on the outer perimeter of the panels provide a continuous seal. 800 lbs per square foot can be supported by the floor panels. The floor panels are constructed in a similar fashion to the wall panels but use rustproof aluminum instead of steel. Floor and ceiling panels use foamed-in-place edge caps that will keep everything secure for the life of the walk-in.

The standard door is 26” wide with a  stepped profile to provide a barrier to airflow for an energy-efficient door. The door opens and closes on two cam-lift hinges that are field adjustable to compensate for any sag over the years making sure the door always opens and closes smoothly while maintaining an airtight seal, A spring-loaded door closer is included to make sure the door is always fully closed which can prevent additional operational costs. To best fit your needs the door can be ordered with the hinges on the left or right side. The door comes pre-installed in a 4’ wide panel section as a single unit complete with a perimeter heating wire (replaceable), A vapor proof LED lighting fixture controlled by a switch that also activates an external pilot light, magnetic stainless steel trim, and a digital thermometer. Everything inside is kept secure by an NL 9800 deadbolt locking handle that can also be locked with a more secure padlock. A safety release inside the walk-in prevents workers from getting trapped.

The temperature inside the walk-in is maintained between 35°F and 38°F efficiently by the RCPB075JC-S-4-EV  Capsule Pak Refrigeration System on the roof producing 6250 BTU/hr of cooling. To Adjust the temperature inside, the Enviro-Control™ unit adjusts the amount of cooling provided by the refrigeration system. It can maintain the target temperature while minimizing power draw. This is also the interface used for adjusting the defrost timer and manually staring a defrost cycle. A weather protection kit is included with all outdoor models. 35 mill white membrane roof material is included and doesn’t need to be glued or seamed on top of the unit, instead, the roofing material is held in place with metal trim flashing secured by self-tapping/drilling TEK screws.
