Is It Time to Replace Your Refrigerated Merchandiser?

Your refrigerated merchandiser is meant to capture the attention of your customers and reel in some impulse buys, but if it’s catching their attention in all the wrong ways due to its broken-down appearance, then it may be time to replace. There are many signs that your refrigerated merchandiser has reached the end of its usable life, and while regular maintenance can prolong the inevitable, knowing when it’s time to throw in the towel is the key. Here are some signs that it may be time to replace your refrigerated display case or merchandiser. 


Sure, your refrigerated display case is likely to make at least some noise straight out of the box, so to speak. But over time, the noise can build due to age and wear. This noise can actually become a distraction, but it can also signify that there’s something seriously wrong with your unit. If you’ve already checked your intake airways to ensure that they haven’t become clogged (which may be a simple fix), then take a closer look at your compressor and/or motor. Excessive noises or rattling from these two areas may signify a more serious issue and can also be the sign of a ‘dying unit’. If you notice any of these signs, then it’s probably time to consider replacing your unit entirely.

The natural result of regular use is a breakdown in the aesthetics of your unit. This wear and tear can come in the form of scuffed panes and broken handles as well as the more serious issues involving mechanical failures. Considering that this unit is meant for customer areas or to be in view of customer areas, you’ll want to take into consideration the appearance of the unit as well as how often it’s out of service to tell whether or not you need to throw in the towel and invest in a replacement.
